Rumors will always be attached to almost all current issues, hot topics, and things that concern public interest. And that the gaming industry hasn’t been able to escape this plight as well. The newest generation of Sony’s best gaming console has also been plagued with numerous PlayStation 4 rumors. Perhaps, the most prevalent among all concerns is the actual date of its release. According to most websites that cover and are dedicated for providing complete information about PlayStation 4, the most probable date is on the 4th quarter or the latter part of 2012.
The truth is; there hasn’t been any clear cut date provided or can be provided by Sony, its management, or even its PlayStation makers/engineers. Based on a recent interview with one of Sony’s global directors, plans for the PlayStation 4 has been rolled out but specific details including the date of release has been uncertain. If you could possibly recall in 2009, from previous PlayStation 4 rumors, the rumored release for the 4th generation gaming console was supposedly this 2011, but didn’t seem to push through. Alongside, Xbox 720 was also predicted to be out on the market by 2010 but until now, the release date is still tentative.
One notable reason for said uncertainty is the current issues with PlayStation 3. The PS3 has been recently introduced and a viable future is still seen ahead of it. Business wise, you couldn’t rush on selling a replacement of a product if your existing good is perfectly doing well in the market, and, until you have reach optimal profit or potential for that product. Another reason that can be associated with these PlayStation 4 rumors is the current technical state of its predecessor, PS3. The Sony management has accepted and IT companies and specialists like Ubisoft have expressed current issues concerning PS3’s hardware capabilities and restrictions.
Again, until Sony and its game developers have perfected and addressed the limitations of its predecessor, the PS4 will still prove to be a long way ride to reality.
Another wave of PlayStation 4 rumors involves the next generation console’s features and functionality. One notable aspect is about the game controller. Xbox has a lead among all other competitors in this aspect by making use and equipping its consoles with the Kinect-style motion sensor. Thus, almost all reports and news write ups claim that Sony has completed negotiations with a Taiwanese component developer to finally integrate said technology with the next generation PlayStation.
